What to do about a sore knee?

What is my knee injury?

  • About 3 months ago a friend grabbed my leg and twisted it. My knee made a loud pop. I think the pop was from my knee cap temporarily partially dislocating and coming back into the place. It happened quickly, so I'm not certain. My knee functions fine. However, the longer I use my knee the more pain I feel. For the first ten minutes it's fine and then it becomes increasingly painful. There are some other symptoms that aren't nearly as bothersome. These include a constant slight tension in my upper thigh and a knee that pops when extended from certain angles, such as when laying down. There doesn't appear to be swelling in the knee. However, there seems to be more tension above the knee and a little bit more tension below the injured knee. This could also be a slight swelling. I have some guesses about my knee injury. When my knee popped back into place it did not do so perfectly, resulting in rubbing and irritation with every bend of the knee, which cause pain cumulatively. Another guess is that the muscle tension is from muscles that have stopped healing, and the screwed up muscles are keeping my knee from functioning properly, resulting in pain and popping. Given my symptoms, can you tell me what is probably wrong with my knee? It's been quite a while since I've been able to work out the way I like to. I'd like to know what is wrong so I can take steps to mend it. I went to an orthopedic doctor and he didn't know what was wrong.

Wow you sound like the problems I used to have I went through doctors cat scans until I got a mri which said I had a tear in meniscus I couldn't run because I felt pain but walk and work perfectly fine I got my arthroscopy surgery and everything went perfect the hardest thing of the surgery is the recovery because you're put asleep in less than 10 secs trust me theres no way you can fight it so you wake up and then the hard thing starts depending on how bad you are but yeah get an mri or rest your knee or Last option get an arthroscopy so they can look inside

Hello, Knee is a very complex joint. You have described the problem pretty good but there is still not enough information from doctors stand pint to tell you what is going on. You best course of action is to ask your doctor for MRI referral. MRI will tell you exactly what was injured and your doctor has to clinically correlate.
