How do I heal a scraped knee?

  • I'm a swim instructor and I scraped my knee in the pool. That was about 2 weeks ago and it still has not healed because I am in the pool twice a week for several hours and by the end of the day whatever scab it has formed is just rotted. This also happens when I take a 10 minute shower. Usually a scrape just heals in a couple days and my showers don't effect it at all. How do I heal this scrape quickly?

    I usually use neosporin, it's the best thing to heal scrapes faster especially if you're going to be swimming and your knee is not healing. I know there are some band aids that have neosporin on them all ready and can be water proof, I found some in Walgreens you should check it out and hopefully this will help.

Apply triple antibiotic ointment and keep it covered with a clean, dry bandage. Don't scrape off scab or cause further trauma to the skin. If it falls off or you can trim it off, okay. I may not be a doctor, but I have had many abrasions, and this works best. Always first thing is to wash out the wound (sounds like you did that immediately), then put on antibiotic and keep a clean bandage on it. It relieves pain and speeds healing. If you swim it would be good to get a water-proof bandage, and then apply a dry one after swimming.

Get a waterproof patch on it. After you're done working and get out of the pool, remove it and let the scrape breathe till you get back into the pool. No medicine necessary, just keep it dry.
