How do I know that I broke my ankle?

How do I know if I broke/ sprained my ankle?

  • I was in P.E. today playing basketball. When I turned to go do a layup, my ankle bent to the side and I felt something ripping in it. I immediately fell to the ground. I took my shoe and sock off, and it swelled up and turned purple. I limped the rest of the day at school. When I walk on it, I can't feel my foot. I have random shooting pains in my foot. It hurts to touch it around the ball thing on the ankle. Any help?

  • Answer:

Signs of a break are black&blue or purple in color swelling pain can you move it at all? If you have those symptoms and cant move it very much, if at all. Then yes it's probably broken. Go see the doctor and get a cast soon, you are only making it worse by walking on it.

my experience tells me that schools have insurance to address injuries sustained at school. You need an x-ray. You might have to pay up front, but report the injury to the school and eventually you will be reimbursed. Either way...you need an xray! Sorry...i feel your pain.

dance around like a chicken sing the lollipop song rub your tummy and pat yor noggin punch yourself in the facial features then ask yourself if your ankle hurts if it does drink some milch and play on your treadmill and put it on as high as it will go (dont worry this wont hurt a bit) and then if it hurts then your ankle is not sprained my friend it is broken! :) cha pitcha

since it could be sprained or broken it is best not to walk on it for a few week's that is the amount of time it can take to recover.
