My elbow hurts when i shoot a basketball?

My elbow hurts when I shoot a basketball do is there a chance I need surgery?

  • Ok 2 years ago my elbow got hurt I don't know how I just started playing basketball and when I would shoot I couldn't extend my arm because it would hurt bad and here is 2012 and it's still hurting sometimes it don't but it started hurting again it feels like I have a cramp in my elbow and I tried cracking my arm but I got no results im bothered by it because i cant play basketball at my full potential because i cant shoot with my elbow damaged, I'm going to get an X-ray soon but do you guys think imma need surgery?

  • Answer:

You probably wont need surgery, this actually happens to me all the time. One reason might be that you hit your arm or anywhere else and a little chip falls off your bone, not much of a deal. But then that chip and get stuck into your socket were you move the elbow. So this can cause pain when you move it in a certain motion, like shooting a basketball.. but i could be wrong, you should see a docter anyways because you never know :)

I doubt it. I had to wear a soft brace on my wrists when I played basketball, thats what happens when you play sports things start to hurt, but good luck with the X-ray
