How long does tendonitis last?

Posterior tibialis tendonitis?

  • I'm dancing ballet and I somehow injured my ankle, can't exactly remember when or how... went to physio and they said it's tendonitis of the posterior tibial tendon. My question is how long does it take for it to heal completely? I haven't danced for 2 and half weeks and haven't done pointe either and it hasn't completely healed yet. It hurts after I stand on it for a long time and feels unstable when I try to rise on it, i feel the pain along the inside of my ankle and the arch. near the arch it's also a bit swollen.I'm icing it and resting. I'm hoping to get back to full dancing soon! But I want to be cautious and let it heal thoroughly before. Does anyone know how long will i need to wait?? Did anyone have experience with this?

  • Answer:

i have had lots of experience. not to scare you but i did not wait long enough for it to heal and i just had my third ankle surgery. That won't happen to you i was being stupid and tore my tendon after not letting the tendonitis heal all the way. I would wait the 4 to 6 weeks that most doctors say. go back slowly at 4 weeks and if you still have pain stop. keep doing therapy and icing. you will need to get arch supports and wear them all the time. and keep up with therapy. the better you let it heal then you won't have problems in the future so be over cautious.
