  • I just sprained my ankle by accidently stepping into a small hole yesturday at school. At first it didn't hurt that bad. So then I pretty much limped for a while and walked it out. I had P.E. after that and since my ankle didn't hurt that much, I ran half a track. It didn't start swelling until I came home. I already talked to my doctor and she gave me crutches and all of that. Now, my ankle is healing pretty fast. The swell had gone done by 3/4 and everytime i touch my ankle, it doesn't hurt. So how long do you think it will take to heal? .. A few days maybe?

    It is helpful to know that soft tissue (muscles, tendons, ligaments and bursas) heals in phases. The final, and most important, phase is the remodeling phase. This is when the collegen is remodeled to replicate the tissue that was damaged during the injury. This is the longest phase since you're no longer feeling any pain, it sounds like you're past phase two and on to phase three. From what you've said, probably no more than a month or so.

What did your doctor say about using crutches and staying off of it? A standard ankle sprain may be better after about 5 days, provided you do not put any weight on the ankle. You may still have some pain and stiffness for about 2-3 weeks after that before it fully heals.

make sure its wrapped tightly and wait a week but u dont have to be on cruches just dont run on it cuz my friend always does that and she has sprained her ankle like 5 times in the past 3 months
