Broken ankle injury, elevation, swelling, and pain issues.?
-
Broke my ankle 7 days ago. Have been in a cast, elevating, and icing ankle. The cast is making my leg (below my knee) and ankle swell and hurt very bad. If I cannot get my swelling to go down, I cannot have surgery this monday (2 days). I will simply have to wait another week. PROBLEM When I elevate and get up to use the restroom, I have horrible pain below the knee and ankle. It is not from my injury, it is from the swelling that immediately occurs. The pain is so bad that it makes it hard to walk on crutches. Will the swelling ever go down? Will the pain subside?

Answer:
The cast might be on too tight and making it swell more. I broke my foot before and wore a cast for 6 weeks all the way up to the knee. I remember it did hurt for a long time.
