Ingrown toenail treatment HELP?

Please help me with my ingrown toenail?

  • I have had an ingrown toenail for quite some time now. It hurts when I put pressure on the side of the toe when it is ingrown. The side of the toe, sticks out where it is ingrown. The skin is covering the nail so I can't really get to it. I am currently using dr.scholls ingrown toenail pain reliever. On the back it says that it softens the nail so you can cut it out yourself. have only been using it for a day. My mom thinks that I should go to the doctor to get it removed. Does it hurt when you get it removed? Does the numbing shot hurt? Does it take them a long time to remove the nail? Please help me!! Should I go to the doctor or should I use the pain reliever for a week like it says to do?

    Go to your doctor, they can take care of it for you. They will numb the area, and it can't hurt worse than the pain you have now. After that, when it starts to happen again the best thing to do is soak your foot in water to soften the nail, then gentle pull it upwards and put a piece of cotton under the nail to help guide it to grow the right way and not back into your skin again

Don't cut your nails so short.

I had two, each on the big toe toenail. But it sounds like mine were more advanced than yours. Mine got all scabbed up and got really gross. I had to get the surgery, but it was not bad. The numbing shot did hurt because it had to go in far, and had to do it four times each toe. After that I was just playing a gameboy and it was over quickly. I did not try the painkillers.
