What to do about a sore knee?

What kind of knee injury is this?

  • My knee has been hurting lately. I twisted it when i was walking down the stairs and i heard it popped. it started hurting for a week and a half and i was limping. I know I dnt have anything broken in there because I could walk but my muscles are too sore thats why i limp when i walk. I started working out probably 3 weeks later and it was fine for a while until one day I worked out too hard. I did the lunge couple of times. I didnt feel the pain on my knee right away but after 10 minutes I could feel it starting to sore. Like a muscle sore when you ran miles and woke up in the morning-thats how it felt like. I thought i was fine til later that day it was worse. I started limping again like before. my symptoms: -cant stretch knee and bend it far enough like i normally did before i hurt it -it will start hurting when i walk or run -the back of my knee feels sore in the morning -there's a popping sound at the side of my knee. -my knee feels so heavy and I limp because I cant put too much pressure and weight on it. -when i massage it, it feels better but pain comes back after a while I cant figure out what the problem is with my knee. First i thought it was a pinched nerve because everytime I press the side of my knee, it will kinda hurt. Then I thought it was a torn ligament because the popping. Im not sure what it is.. I need help please

    your symptoms seem to be those of a hamstring strain. http://www.med.umich.edu/1libr/sma/sma_hamstrin_sma.htm Basically, you need to rest your leg, ice it, compress it using elastic bandage or something similar and keep it elevated. Take some anti inflammatories if it hurts too much.
