Why do I have sore glutes?

Has anyone cured a knee problem caused by glutes not firing properly - if so can you help me?

  • Basically I get problem with my right knee when I go upstairs, run up hills and after squatting. My physio says its caused by tight hamstrings and my glutes not firing properly. Sha gave me a hamstring stretch and told me to do squats whilst squeezing my glutes. Has anyone else had this problem? Has anyone cured it, and if so what did you do?

  • Answer:

I have a kind of similar problem. I have problems with my knee and part of the problem is weak glutes. This causes my femur to rotate improperly which is hard on my knees. My physical therapist told me to do single leg squats which would strengthen those glutes. My problems stem from acl surgery. I would highly recommend looking into active release therapy. I had a muscle in my thigh that wasn't firing properly and a chiropractor that does active release found out the nerve for that muscle was entrapped in some scar tissue. After one session of active release, I t was twice as strong as it was before. I put a link for finding physicians that do the technique.
