My knee feels very swollen could there be a fluid in it?

• for the past couple of weeks ive been experiencing problems with my knee. some days it feels like its getting better and other days it feels like crap. my knee has been swelled for the past couple weeks and doesnt seem to want to go down. i believe that there is fluid behind my knee and it just needs to be removed because when i kneel to far down on my knee it starts to hurt. not like a sharp pain but like something heavy has been placed on my knee. i would go to the doctor to have it checked out but i just dont have the money to do that right now. im just wondering what it could be and how could i get it to go away quicker. i can also walk on my knee with out a problem the only time it bothers me is when i run on kneel down on it. it also pops every once in awhile. i really hope its something not serious like a torn ligament or torn cartalidge. if anyone has any information on how to get this to go away please let me know. Additional Details well ive iced it a lot for the past two weeks and put hot water on it and it makes it feel a little bit better afterwards but it still hurts when i move it into certain directions or kneel on it. how long before it will go away and if i do have fluid in my knee what should i do to get it out?

  you could get fluid tapped off knee,if a dr. deems appropriate, you could also get cortisone shot? both are equally painful.you really should see a doctor. this will just get progressively worse over time.sounds like torn meniscus and/or chondra malysia (check spelling)not sure but you can google it. good luck.
