What to do about a sore knee?

What is wrong with my knee?

  • let me just start by saying that i am a 16 year old female and in very good shape. lately though my knee has been hurting pretty bad. i am a tennis player and i am guessing thats where i injured my knee but i am not quite sure whats wrong. i have looked allll over the internet for answers as to what could be causing this pain but i cant seem to find anything. the pain is in my left knee. it hurts on the back of the knee just below the bend in the knee and kind of in between the center and the inside of the knee (the side closest to the other leg). when i push on the area it hurts but if i am just sitting around, my knee doesn't hurt. if i put pressure on it (walking, running, etc.) thats when it hurts really bad. it has been going on for about 3 weeks to a month and i have been taking one aleve (12 hour anti inflammatory) every morning and every night for the past 2ish weeks. also for the last weekish i have been icing behind my knee. the pain is worst when exercising (especially running and playing tennis) or when i walk too much. so i am not really sure whats wrong with my leg/knee. oh and also, at a tennis match about 3 weeks to a month ago, i played really hard and i noticed the knee pain after that match and it has been there ever since. also, i do not think this is an overuse injury because i am in good shape and used to doing strenuous activity. thank you for any help you can give! i am desperate to find an answer and get rid of this pain!

    Alot of possibilities. Sprained ligament or a problem with your Meniscus would be my guess. You need to see a doctor, knee injuries are terrible and if untreated it will only get worse. Your just going to make the injury worse otherwise. When your resting, do 15 minutes ice on and 15 minutes off. Rinse repeat, that should help a little in the meantime.
