How do you remove a very deep splinter from your toe?

My toe hurts on the side, but its not a splinter?

  • On my right foot, my toe has a sudden shock in it every time i walk. If I place my foot on my knee, and use my hand to hit it, I feel a sudden shock going through almost the entire side of my toe. Its not a splinter though, because I cant see anything and the pain isnt only in one general spot, its on the whole side of my toe. I tried soaking it in water ( moms remedy ) because hot water makes skin expand, but nothing was there.... i tried to ice it for 5 minutes and even though it was numb, I could still feel the shock when i walked or hit it. (If this helps): on sunday, I was walking bare feet on the beach and on wood. Thats what led me to believe it was a splinter, but I am positive it is not.

  • Answer:

it could be fiberglass splinters, the are really really tiny so you can see it, but they hurt. You know its them when its reflecting just a tiny bit in the light, just like a little bit, you know how if you move glass side to side in light it reflects into your eyes, well it would be microscopic reflecting off your skin. There isnt much you can do but wait for them to go away.

sounds like you might have a a fracture - a sharp stabbing pain. How long ago you did this? if it goes black you broke it - you could do a buddy strap - you strap the toe to the toe its nearest to help it heal - with a small plaster strips , if you like to get it x rayed - provided theres no pus coming out you should be fine but will take a bit to heal
