How do you stop swelling in your thumb?

How do I stop this pain?

I was forced to pull off an acrylic (Fake) nail from my thumb nail (my real one) and it resulted in my real nail bed being ripped off in a corner near the edge of my cuticle. I've had it in band aids that I change when needed for a few days now but Its become impossible to write, and if I bump it I'm in extreme pain instantly. It also looks as though my thumb is swelling. I've used Neosorin to prevent infection and I keep it clean with soap and water. What can I do to stop this pain?? Any ideas, tips? Besides going to the doctor? Ty!!

How long ago did you do this? It may be an ingrown nail. Them hurt! If the pain persists then go to the doctor and he/she will be able to help. Try taking some Tylenol or Ibuprofen.
