Can you break your ear?

  • Today in science, i slipped on some flour on the floor and smashed my head (and right ear) on the stool. It's really hard stool and ever since that class, the top part of my ear has begun to hurt whenever touched or moved. The top part bends a bit in a weird way. I'm really just confused and I want to get rid of the pain.

    I know how you feel! I'm on the varsity soccer team and have gotten just absolutely SMASHED in the ears. But your ears are cartilage so they can't really "break." Chances are it will go away soon, but you may want to get checked for a concussion.. If your ear continues to hurt after a few days you should probably get it checked out

 A human ear is made out of cartilage and not bone so it doesn't break. However, hitting the ear too hard will create damage to the ear by causing swelling that will cut off the blood supply to the ear. If the blood supply is cut off too long, it may cause permanent damage to the ear.

Yes, the outer ear is a big cartilage. If you hit it hard enough you could have broken the cartilage. You need to get that checked out because it would need splinting and or even surgical repair. The bad thing about broken cartilage is that it heals very slowly due to its poor blood supply.

Your ear is just a thick piece of skin in which you hurt. It's just bruised. But if your ear drum starts to hurt you should do more research or contact a doctor.

You can't break your ear. Putting ice on it may help with the pain. It will get better eventually on its own.

Your ear is made of some very specific material. The same material as your nose. Cant ever break it. bend it or watever it wont break.
