How to avoid infection from a burn?

How should i change the burn dressing? Will an infection on a burn wound guarantee a permanent scar?

• I burned myself with hot tea 6 days ago (Monday) and got a blister on my chest. And i accidentally rubbed the surrounding skin off the next day and popped the blister the day after. I went to the clinic, and the doctor ended up cutting the blister off. I got the adrenal shot (for tetanus) and was prescribed flamazine. However, while i covered the wound with flamazine, it still go infected and there was yellow pus. I went to the clinic yesterday again, and the doctor there prescribed me taro-mupirocin and apo-cephale x to treat the infection. She also told me not cover the wound after applying the taro-mupriocin cream during night and let it air dry a bit so the infection won't get worse. After a few hours of exposing it to the air, there is yellow scab forming at the centre on the wound and red tissue surrounding it. And the scab is starting to look a little flaky. Should i continue to expose the wound to the air as instructed or should i cover it with a sterile non-adhesive pad? Also, when i change my dressing, should i wash it with saline solution? Because for the past few days i only use sterile gauge pad to clean and absorb the liquid in the wound area. Also, will the infection/the yellow scab as a permanent scar on my chest? • Answer:

  Once the blister is a small scab put on gently a non stick gauze pad and don't touch it. No if you have to clean it use a sting free mild antiseptic and extremely gently blot it.
