How do you heal a salt ice burn?

2nd degree salt and ice burn...HELP?

  • I have a severe blister from a salt and ice burn that measures 2 inches wide by 4 inches long and 2 cm tall. I got it last night and it is growing at an extremely rapid rate. Do I pop it with a needle at the base or let it heal/get bigger? What do I do to help it heal? The blister feels hot to the touch and prevents me from walking/causes a limp (its on the ankle). I cant go to the doctors, but am wanting to know how to take care of it so it doesn't get worse. It also itches (im not scratching it). Please help ASAP. Thanks!

  • Answer:

DON"T pop it! that can cause infection. You can't go to a doctor? Ok, then, if it is hot and growing, perhaps you didn't clean it enough. Perhaps a soak in cool water? Not cold, not hot. Carefully wash with a mild antibacterial soap. Cover with a clean dressing, Neosporin if you have it. The heat and growth may indicate an infection. If it continues to grow or feel hot, you do need to go to the doctor. Try to stay off it, or wear sandals that don't touch the blister.
