Why do I bite my tongue on purpose?

I don't know why it happens. I just end up randomly biting my tongue and on purpose too. Although i usually don't realize it until I'm already biting it. It's kind of like a compulsive thing but why do I do it? ANy ideas? It's giving me tons of blisters and now it hurts when I eat.

Well If its a real bad habbit to quit i suggest taking your mind off it. Maybe develope a less dangerous habit to get rid of this one. Like me, i happen to bite my nails And i cant stop. (i mostly bite them during movies)

My friend has that habit ..,the dentists told her its a real bad habit, she told me abt it but i didnt really understand lol but there is a reason ..when ur mouth gets dry or somethin idunno thats what they said to her..

probably a nervous thing that you do..swish around some salt water in your mouth..and try to quit doing it
