Why is my ear piercing bleeding?

  • Only my right ear piercing is bleeding. I always wear these gold studs but i took it off today and it starting bleeding like crazy. The skin has been irritated before. But the strange thing is that ONLY my right ear is bleeding. Why is this and what should I do? Do I have to stop wearing earrings?

    You have probably just caught a blood vessel, don't panic, my ears have been pierced for over 20yrs and it still occasionally does it. Put yr ear rings in Hot salt water to cleanse them. When the water cools, Wash yr hands then put earrings back in. They will act as a stopper for the bleeding. HOWEVER IF THEY HAVE NOT STOPPED BLEEDING BY TOMORROW SEE YR GP.

normally it shouldn't bleed because earrings are worn on the cartilage part of a person's ear but maybe you wore the earring too high and you left it in for so long that when you pulled it out all the blood that you blocked started pouring out wear your earrings as low as you can and if your ear still bleeds that could mean that you have a few extra blood vessels in your cartilage and at that point you will have to stop wearing earrings

This isn't abnormal, your ear could just be a little irritated from the jewelry. Go to Claire's, Icing's, or another piercing store and get some piercing cleaning solution. Use a few times a day on both ears because it will help keep your piercings healthy. Also, try to stick to sterling silver or gold jewelry so you don't get an infection
