What should I do after a spider bite?

What is on my back? A spider bite?

  • About a week ago my back started itching bad in one spot. Then it started hurting. The next day, I had my boyfriends mother look at it and it was swollen and still hurting and itching. She thought it could have been a spider bite or a staff infection. I've tried to put rubbing alcohol, peroxide, lye soap, and even neosporin on it and it is still hurting and itching. My boyfriends sister in law is in nursing school so I had her look at it.She said that it did, indeed look like a spider bite and said that whatever it was, it bit me 3 times and she could see the bite marks. I'm going to the doctor tomorrow to see what it is. I don't have anything else to use tonight on my back until tomorrow. I only have lye soap and peroxide. I'm gonna take some Benadryl before I go to sleep because I was told it could be allergies. Does anyone know what it could be? Any advice or helpful gestures would be great! Thanks in advance!

    Many skin conditions are often mistaken for bites, staph being very common. A hot towel treatment will help this, and if there is any drainage, a topical antibiotic will help prevent secondary infection. I would forgo the lye soap,and use a milder soap.(even dish soap) Usually these heal fine, but can take some time. I think you can rule out spiders, because they usually heal in a day or few. I also doubt there are allergies involved.

Try to keep the area cool - that should reduce the irritation at least a little. Use a cold compress, and maybe take an antihistamine (like piriton) tablet, this will also reduce itchiness and irritation. Without seeing it I couldn't really say more except go to a doctor and get them to look at it. Hope you're feeling better soon!
