Will my sunburn turn into a tan?

How long will it take for a sunburn to turn into a tan?

  • I got a major sunburn and it really hurts to move or touch it :( My burns never peal..so i'm just wondering how long it will take until he developes into a tan.

  • Answer:

Burns never "turn into a tan." When you get sunburned, the little veins of your top skin burst from overexposure, and that will take several days to heal. A tan is developed in your deeper layers of skin. So your burn just fades, rather than transforms into your tan. Anyways, give it about 3 days and lots of aloe.

Your concern is misplaced. This should never be allowed to happen. Cell damage and future skin cancer is what you should worry about. Tanning is not a goal, it's a warning sign.

Burn can never turn to a tan. As a rule the skin peals off in time and new one will look raw and as it matures it will be just like the old. Apply over the counter sun burn cream do not apply sun screen, unless it is also for Sun Burns. In some case it does not peal appreciably so you may not notice it. Even when you are not burned the skin is rejuvenated from time to time but that pealing is very small almost unnoticeable, and hence undetected.

Depending on the person, it generally can take 2-4 days.
