Is this a spider bite and what should i do?

I have on my leg what I think is a spider bite. Noticed it last night, but didn't feel it bite me.?

  • Last nite it was about the size of a dime and bright red with little blister in the middle. It was tender and itched. This morning the redness had grown (but not bright red). It was also a bit swollen. Throughout the day, the red area has grown and there appears to be a red wavy line going up my leg. Question is: Should I be concerned and seek medical attention or just wait it out and see what happens. I have seen the horror stories about the brown recluse spider bites and that freaks me a bit. Any advise from someone who has had a bite. Or anyone. Thanks.

    I think any change of your skin that worries you should get a look in at the doctors.. I mean isnt it better that the doctor tells you not to worry , gives you some cream and sends you home.. rather than the doctor panics and sends you to emergency room for waiting so long to get it checked out.. nothing wrong with asking the doctor I think.

Yes seek medical attention. Brown recluse spiders don't hurt when they bite, and they can cause a lot of muscle and tissue damage if you don't get antibiotics soon. My mother in law got bit, and I see bites in the ER a few times a year. Either go to the ER in the am or call your own doctor when you get up. No need to rush off if it's the middle of the night unless you have a fever, or you can't move your limb.

Had your treatment till you said red line going up leg. No longer self care, but emergency care. Take off while you can. Time is no longer your friend, delay could mean increasing tissue damage.
