Stung by a wasp 5 days ago helpp ...?
-
ok so 5 days ago i was stung by a wasp on my leg, i was stung when i was little and survived so im not allergic or anything and the sting didnt really hurt it just... stung. Anyway, it went red and stung for the day and had like a tiny white bump/mark thing where it had actually happened then it seemed to have gone and it was fine afterwards. But today, it's all of sudden it's flared up really red around it again and is really itchy! And i dont know if it's related or not but today and yesterday i've felt quite sick and today my legs have ached! Even if thats not related... why has it suddenly flared up again now?

Answer:
The barb may still be in there.

Look at the area - is the wound where the stinger went in getting bigger and looking like a wound? Or is there a liquid oozing out, clear or pus? Does it hurt when you touch it? Is the reddened area increasing in size? (1) the stinger is still in and it's infected or irritating (2) infection or (3) really bad infection which could be or developing into MRSA, which is a severe infection normal antibiotics cannot get rid of. If you are running a fever, even a slight fever, you need to get to doctor asap and have it looked at, and at the appropriate antibiotics.

That normally happens with every sting. Put on pure aloe vera gel is another natural method of cooling and soothing the sting area. Aloe vera is known universally as a wonderful healing skin treatment and it contains no harsh chemicals, additives or medications

The barb of the wasp is still in your leg. To get it out, you should put pressure on it. You could get it out just like if you were to have a splinter.

I was just at the doctor with my daughter over this exact same thing. While there is a chance the stinger is stuck in or there is an infection there is more likely another answer. You see, you can become allergic to these kinds of things at any times. It sounds like you are having an allergic reaction to the wasp sting. If so, this can last up to 15 days, and could get worse and cause other infections. At this point you need to see a doctor. It might be necessary to go beyond over the counter anti-histamines. There is a chance you may need to be put on steroids. Also, if this is an allergic reaction this means that the next one will be worse progressively. The doctor needs to see this to know if you need to carry an epi pen where ever you go. You said you aren't allergic, but remember you can develop these allergies at ANY TIME.
