Is online homeschooling expensive?

How many credits can i make through Online School and Homeschooling?

  • I am missing 2 years worth of high school credits( East Los Angeles credit requirements)(160 credits total)(9th-50credits)(10th-110 credits) so when i went to register this year i was told it would be best for me to do both online school and homeschooling so i have two questions 1.Is it possible to make up 2 years of credits during 12 month? 2. since i know on online school they let you work at your own pace i want to know how many credits would i be able to make up through online in one day is there a limit of how much i can do?

  • Answer:

I just moved from CA after 17 years of homeschooling. So... in CA you register as a private school and there are no credits or units to earn. An online school (like K-12 in CA, it is free, or Insight) are based on the regular school year. Some paid for ones may let you work ahead, but what I suggest you do is take some classes at a community college. One semester gets you a year credit. It won't be one school year you catch up, but you will. Go to all the summer school you can. Charter schools and online schools are not home schools, but do offer credits.

Homeschooling doesn't grant credits. Homeschooling is like setting up your own private school. If you want a public school/public school system to grant you credits, you have to enroll in a public school program that grants credits or find a private school program that the public school system will accept.
