How much would a teen cna get paid at a nursing home?

  • I am turning sixteen in may which means two things. 1) DRIVERS License whoop, and 2) finding a job. See I live a small town of about 800 people and there are only about 200 kids in our school maybe more. Anyways most of them don't get jobs until there senior year. I however, am still a sophomore and would like a job at the nursing home, so I can have a job with one of my best friends who plans on working there. Anyways I was wondering how much would I get paid working as a CNA there. I want to know how much I would get paid an hour and how many hours I would work.

    depends on your state of mininmum wage is or not. when i started cna n 1986 was only getting $6.50 but over time was getting about $8.15. and with a minor you can only work 20hrs or less to you become 18yrs old. and dependds on your nursing home will let you work part time. good job to keep and good field to stay in. is a demanding jobs. the pahy might gone up to maybe $7.75-9.00 per hr. good luck

Will they let a 16 year work as a CNA, a Certified Nursing Assistant? Usually a CNA needs a high school diploma or GED and the CNA training.

Unfortunately, most states do have age limits in their state regulations for who can provide nursing care in nursing homes. My state allows individuals between the age of 17-18 who have successfully passed their CNA to be able to work. Otherwise, at minimum those who provide care to residents must be at least 18 years old. For other employees, they must be at least sixteen years old, this would include, for example, dietary staff, housekeeping, etc. Of course, each state has different requirements, but the nursing home would still also have to follow labor laws for minors. I am not sure what state you work in, but you could contact the nursing home and ask them the state regulations for age restrictions...they would be able to telll you.
