Questions about part time home-school part time public?

  • I am in seventh grade and started school public just this year, i was homeschooled my whole life before, so at the end of this semester my mom and I have been discussing part time at public like taking science, band, and math there and like english/history AT home, you know? So my mom says she will talk to the counsellor soon about doing that, but i want to find info now, but im not sure where to LOOK in the SCHOOL site...? If you have any info, PLEASE HELP! Thank you(:

    It'll be written up in the laws, not the specific school site. I get most of my info on this kind of thing from other parents. In our state it's totally possible and a lot of people have had success with it. See if you can talk to some people in a support group, a lot of parents have tried this and at least can provide a roadmap on their own experience.

You check with the school district. Many school employees will tell you "no" and not know whether it is allowed or not. Even a school counselor may not know. Most school employees are totally ignorant as to home schooling laws. It may be your district allows you do do this, or it may not. In our old district home schooled students could not take anything at the schools, no exceptions. But, now, home schoolers are welcome to classes, and can borrow materials. The only "except" is if it is a class that is part of yearly testing, the home schooled student has to take the test too. Search your district name +home schooled students, or your district name +homeschooled students.
