Is there any Free homeschooling programs?

Homeschooling programs?

  • I recently was pulled out of my old school by my mom. The school was too challenging. The kids were mean. And the work load was unbelievable. My mom was enrolling me in an online school. We were told I could start right away, but over the weekend we were informed we had been put on a waiting list. Neither my mom nor I want me to be put back in a school with other children. So right now we have thought of homeschooling until I am off the waiting list and into my online school. The problem is we are very poor and we can't find any reasonably priced packets/kits to order. If you know of any good things we can order please tell me. We can't really afford anything above 150 dollars. If we even have to go that high. I have heard people say there are such things as free homeschooling kits but neither of us can find these anywhere. By the way I'm a ninth grader. Thank you so much!

Where do you live? It may be possible, depending on the home school laws, to just get lots of library books and read! Your mom could make up exams for literature, like reading responses etc. There are countless sites online where you can find free literature teacher's guides. Math worksheets too. Get science activity books and do the experiments. You may like it so much you stay in home school and forget about the online school!

You have options. First, you need to find out about the homeschooling laws in your state and be sure to comply with them no matter what curriculum or program you use. You can find them on http://www.hslda.org/ In most states, you can use the library and internet as your primary resources. Ambleside Online is a free online curriculum guide for using mostly library books. There is also a series of books, What Your [your grade] Grader Needs to Know. You can use the one for 9th grade as a general guide and the library and internet for resources. Christian Light Education is an academically sound, inexpensive curriculum. It is primarily workbook based. Each subject often uses several workbooks during the year, so you can just order the ones used at first. Then more as needed until you can get into the online program. Other possible sources of inexpensive curriculum are local schools, both public and private. Ask them if they have anything they are discarding. Often schools with discard books still in good condition when they get new editions or switch curriculum. Ask other homeschooling families if they have anything to lend, give, or sell that you could use. Also check online e-bay and craigslist sometimes have inexpensive school books.
