How can I get my mom to let me go to school??? (I'm homeschooled)?
-
So... I'm homeschooled right? And I've homeschooled all my life. But I REALLY want to go to public high school! I haven't been doing very good with homeschooling because it's so hard to be motivated and focus on school. And I'm not exactly a self-diciplined person. But I have gone to public school before and done much, much better. I couldn't stay in school due to moving around so much and I want to know how I can convince my mom to let me go to public school for 9th grade?

Answer:
if i tell her my experience with it she probably would let you go ahead and go to school. i was a honor roll student in honor roll classes until i start getting sick and needed home study (8th grade to 12th). when i began taking home study i wasn't learning a thing because i wasn't being taught. all the teachers would do is give me an assignment (ex:tell me read and answer questions 1-10). i never had work that was a challenge to me (all i would get is the basics) so everytime we had our yearly state exam (ctbs test) they would let me pass to the next grade without taking it. i didn't take any kind of test the whole 5yrs for them to see where i'm at. all i had to do was read books and answer questions and they let me graduate. i didn't take senior finals or anything, they just handed me my diploma. the very bad part about it was that when i went to the college (that summer) to take the math and english exam i was scored very low because i haven't learned nothing in years. i scored so low i would have to 3 classes before i could take english a class your mom should let you go to school cause home study is about nothing

Give her the pro's and con's of homeschooling and public school, explain to her why you want to go and that it is important to you. you could also try telling her if your grades go down in public school you would switch back to homeschooling.

Tell her something to the effect of:I understand your need to have me at home for home schooling, and you have done a fine job,but to complete in this world I also need to learn how to socially interact with people outside the home.when I get into the job world and college I will need to know this as other in my peer group will already have had this experience.and you can always still check my work to see I am learning the schooling you feel is necessary.
