How To Play The Blues?

How would I go about getting the rights to do a blues brothers school play?

• Im Dave and I really wanna direct a blues brothers play next year in school. Its always been one of my favorite movies. Great talent, Great songs, Great Story it is one of the best movies ever made. Does anybody have any clue how I would go about gaining the rights to the movie/songs temporarily.

  Look on the dvd (or vhs, if that's still what you got) package. It tells you on there who the production company is (universal, or paramount, or whoever). Google that, and you can find a web address where you can make the request for the movie rights (I wouldn't count on it, but you never know. It's worth a try) The music rights won't be as easy. All the songs used in the film were considered "oldies" even at the time of production, waaaay back in 1980. You'd have to find the copyright holder of each song individually (I don't think any two songs were originally from the same composer or artist). Once you find the copyright holder, it's the same process as for the film. Good luck. You'll need it.
