How to become an actress in australia?

How do I become an actress!? In australia?

  • I really want to become an actress! I love acting and drama! And not to sound up myself but I actually think I can kinda act. My teacher nominated me to go into the Eva Mendez Competition. Unfortunately I didn't get my audition video in on time..Anyway I just dont know where to start!? The only acting I do is at school but this year I'm going to a local acting place and doing workshops there. I'm in year twelve and I live in north queensland so there is no big special academy I can go to. After this year I'm moving to Brisbane to earn some money and possibly do some acting there. After I saved up enough money I was going to go down to Melbourne or Sydney and try to get into a n academy there. I'm very very determined. I will do pretty much anything! i really want to be a famous actress! Can someone please give me some advise. Please and thank you.

You need to take acting classes first because you need training, you need a lot of training. Then once you have taken a good amount of acting classes, you should audition for local theater plays and indie/student films. Taking acting classes will boost your confidence, trust me! You should also do as much research on this industry as possible. The last thing you want to happen to you is getting scammed. Read acting books too. It's just like any other profession, you wouldn't just jump into it without knowing anything about it. So once you start looking for auditions, I wouldn't look on any websites unless it was for a theater. You can't trust a lot of the websites that claim to have auditions, most of them are old or a scam. And you shouldn't have to pay to find out about auditions, a lot of these fake audition websites make you pay to subscribe. Once you do the research you'll find out about which websites to avoid. Ok so once you have training and experience (as in being in plays/indie films/student films), it can be time to look for an agent. Usually your acting teachers will know about the legit agencies in your area, so they probably will give you a list of them. Have professional headshots taken and type up your resume. When you do research you'll find out all about these 2 things, and you'll see everything that you need to put on your resume. So once you have these things, send them to the agencies along with a cover letter. And then wait and hope you hear back from them. If this is really what you want to do then don't give up, because there will be times where you are rejected and you don't get the part, but there are also other times where you will get the part. Good luck!
