How are movie auditions like?

How do agencies and movie auditions work?

• ok im 13 years old and want to be an actor. I love acting in drama class, but that's the only experience ive ever had. i would make an AWESOME actor, for i have all a's JUST because i have such good memory, so i would be good at memorizing lines. the only problem is that i have no idea how that agency stuff works. same thing with how to get in auditions, and what you do in them....can someone please explain that, and explain maybe where i could get auditions for small commercials or something?

  first you need to get training and experience and build up a resume, then you can worry about agents. take some beginning film acting classes that cover cold reads,auditioning, working in front of a camera,some improv,get practice working in front of a group. look in your phone book for community theaters, their open calls, look for student films and ind.film auditions. agencies find auditions for you that aren't open to the general public. except for open calls like local theater,student and ind film auditions, you will need an agent for most all commercial professional auditions. agents only get you auditions, its up to you and your skill to land the job. most all auditions are cold reads, which means when you get to the audition you will know ahead of time what your there for and will be given a small script of the part your trying for, and a few minutes to prepare before you go in. there will be several people in the audition room. a casting director,one or two assistants, maybe the director or producer or both. the thing with auditions is you need to be where they are to do this. if your not where there are any opportunities, you won't get anywhere. you will need a parent to do this with you and get an agent for you when your ready. agents get no money up front, they only get paid when you work, they get 10%. do not pay anyone up front for anything.
