Are Acting Coaches Effective?

• I think I'm a pretty good actor. The only problem is my acting can be inconsistent sometimes. One day I'll be great and another day I won't be as good. First off, Is it naturally for acting ability to vary day to day? Second, I was thinking of getting a acting coach. Would an acting coach help me become a better, more consistent actor? Thank You!

  Frankly you'd be better off getting a place at a good drama school - working with other actors is key to developing your talent, and a one-to-one teaching session can't do that. Everyone's acting varies when you're still training, but a professional really has to be able to produce excellent performances every day, even when you've been going for 15 hours non-stop, day after day. It's all about great training, loads of experience and a huge talent. Good luck! xx
