How do I start an acting career?

How do I start an acting career in movies, tv shows, and commercials from scratch?

  • I am a girl, and I'm turning 14 in 2 months. I have no experience what so ever in acting. I want to act as an actress, not singing in theatres. I want to go to a community theatre so it can help me become an actress. None of my family members are actors or have any experience in the arts. I live in the city of Boston. I am confident, nice, thoughtful, and brave. I just want to be a real actress when I finish High School or College. I have a few questions: Does Community Theatre help in becoming an actress? Where can I find a fantastic agency for me to become an actress? Do I have to go to Acting classes to be in the community theatre? Do I have to go to acting classes to become an actress? How long will it take to become an actress? How much is it for acting classes and community theatre/ and how many sessions do I have to go to? Please give me all the info you have on acting. Thankyou.

  • Answer:

Community theatre is great! You need experience for agencies to want you, and the stage is a great way to start Being an actress doesn't mean being a mega-movie stars, it means having a passion for acting, even if you're starving. There really isn't a definition of a "real actress" I consider myself a real actress, even though I only do stagework. As for classes, go to as many classes as needed. Join your school drama club. Gain experience!
