How do I build a portfolio and build a resume?

  • I have danced since I was four, and acted and sang since I was about 11. I'm 15 now, and looking at colleges. I know, It's early, but a lot of my directors suggest I start a portfolio. Truth be told, I have nowhere to start! What should the portfolio look like? In a book, or just on a piece of paper? Photos, or just writing? Programs from previous shows included? Shows I have written? Head shots? Please help point me in the correct direction! I need a full explanation of where to start, how to organize, and what content I need. <3

    List all the credits that you have been in and be sure to include programs from those events like dance recitals, concerts, pictures of onstage perhaps. Reviews from local newspapers, headshots, include shows you have written and other skills that you have that can benefit you as a performer. List the performing schools or seminars you have attended.
