Ideas for Absurdest Theatre workshop?
-
A friend and I are doing a workshop on Samuel Beckett, Waiting for Godot and Theatre of the Absurd. We are struggling to think of workshop ideas/games that explore Theatre of the Absurd possibly through the text of Waiting For Godot. Any ideas would help. Thank you (:

Answer:
Text and Subtext exercises. Theatre of the Absurd is all about the kernel of truth that has been obfuscated through many layers of action and meaning. Look into Ionesco's work (Jack or the Submission is a good play to start on). The absurd is what you see on stage, but through analysis of the subtext of the show you can find true meaning and fulfillment.
