Screenplay and acting?

What really happens at film school?

  • I love acting, i love writing and im currently writing a screenplay, and i do really well in drama, but i also have a massive intrest pyscology, I would love to do humanbehavior or criminology, but would film school actually help an acting or writing carrer? or could i still be just as successful if i persude pyscology? i realise im not deffinatly gonna make it as an actor or as a writer but will i have just as good a chance with an acting/writing carrer if i do pyscology and not film school, or does film school really help?

  • Answer:

If you go to film school for the practical part (ie: learing how to use a camera, set up lights, edit etc ) then you will be able to get a job in film or television production and as you build your career and make money you can then buy your own equipment, write your own scripts and star in them, and you will know professional people who can help you. DO NOT go to an expensive acting school to study acting. Try to take acting classes on the side, try to spend as little on it as possible, especially if your already talented, and if you are talented you will know, people will look at you a certain way and everyone will be eager to work with you. studying psychology will help with acting, understanding why people do what they do is important, sociology is an important study as well, it focuses mostly on behavior in groups. What you can do is find a school that will let you major in psychology and take film classes as electives, that would be your best bet. Good luck

I think elementary school might be a prerequisite to film school or pyscology school.

I'm in film school :) You don't necessarily need to be in film school to have a career in film, there's plenty of filmmakers that are looking for volunteers, and by going on set and seeing how things work, you can ask questions and learn more each time. So film school is good in a way, but not necessary. No one is gonna ask you for your film degree/diploma when they hire you. For acting and writing, same thing.
