Is it possible to be a serious athlete while acting?

How do you get serious in acting?

• I really enjoy acting because it's a lot of fun and it's a great way of building confidence and meeting new people and making new friends. I started out doing school plays, but only in small roles with few lines. But I've been taking acting lessons and courses in an acting school that's well-received in my country and we act out together scenes and monologues and my teacher and friends says I do very well. I wouldn't mind doing acting as a profession though. But I mean it's a tough business to break into, like many people have told me and it can be expensive as well. But still, can you tell me how I could get serious in acting?

  You have to audition for casting calls which are held every so often, so you have to keep an eye out - especially if you live in a smaller city where these opportunities don't come by too frequently. Its through these casting calls where you are selected to become part of a movie, tv show etc. If you're good enough, word-of-mouth will land you bigger roles. Your second option is to contact a Talent/Modelling agency and set up an meeting with an agent who will hopefully take you under their wing if they see potential. These agencies give you the jobs, however they make a cut of whatever you're paid. They essentially do the work for you.
