How can you get into acting?

How can I get into acting if I have children?

  • I have always had a talent for acting, which was clear from what my drama teacher told me at school, and from performing as a child in a play of "scrooge" and from performing in a majic show, where I pretended to be a participant and helped in the pretend majic. I was told on all 3 of these occasions that I had a talent for acting. I am a naturally creative person. Unfortunately, I cannot see how I can arrange childcare to cover the long hours that would be required when or if I landed myself an acting role. Any ideas anyone on how I can arrange childcare if I am going to try to get into acting? Thankyou very much.

You can but you will just be a dead beat mom or dad Most actors and actresses started acting before they had kids, and the ones that started late usually have spouses or a big family that looks after the kids while they are gone. But if you are a single mom or dad, now is not the time to be doing this. I know you may need the cash and better lifestyle, but leaving your kid by a babysitter just to fly to another state for an acting is is like selling your soul to the devil. I cant tell you what to do, but all I can say is that my parents were never there while I was growing up and now we are not close at all. I just dont have that bond with them, I am more attached to my aunt who took care of me. So unless you want your kid being more attached to the babysitter then put your dreams on hold for a while until your kid is around 13-18. At that age kids dont mind traveling ad seeing new places, but if they are younger than that then it will leave them with a scar. Remember kids wanna be stable and make friends in life, its not all about money for them. Money may seem like the best option for you but TRUST ME kids dont care about money. I wished my parents gave me a family and home instead of moving from state to state with the company they worked for, I wouldn't even care if we were poor; its all about family for me. So think carefully before you make your decisions, sometimes in life you gotta put your kids first. Your kid is like a replica of you, so its only logical to make sure that him/her is happy. you can die at any moment, but its that kid who has to carry on your legacy. SO make sure you teach them the right values Hope you understand

if your a single parent, this will be extremely difficult. you don't always get a lot of notice of when auditions are. you will have to be able to drop what your doing and make it to auditions. you will need someone to be able to take care of your kids on short notice. unless you have someone who can come when you call or a relative, you won't be able to do this. you will also need to keep your regular job while you do this as your not going to make a living at acting alone, and per suing acting is expensive.
