What do you know about Carnegie Mellon?

Carnegie Mellon Drama Department?

  • I am really passionate about acting and it is my dream to become a professional actress. I know a lot of schools have good drama departments but i want to go to one that has a great drama department AND good academics. I am very interested in Carnegie Mellon but I also am well aware that they receive over 1,000 applications for 28 spots making it very very intense to get into to. I have several years before I have to actually apply but I would like to prepare now. I already take theatre everyday at school and do very well in it I also make good grades but I want to know what else I can do before applying. Oh and it would just be drama I am interested in not musical theatre. Also when you are in there conservatory for acting how many academic based classes can you take(i.e. Lit, Math, Language, etc...)? Also any audition tips and what should I expect at an audition there?

  • Answer:

All you have to do is be interesting, that's all they're looking for. I recommend Yale Drama School over Carnegie Mellon, as would most people. Just as difficult to get into but 100 times better. Also "theater" is spelled with an "er" in the United States. It is only proper to spell it with an "re" in British countries, look it up and have your pretentious drama teacher (who is not a working actor) look it up also.
