What to expect at a casting call?
-
I am going to an open casting call for the Real World season 27 and I need to know what to expect and what to wear!!! Ive researched online about some experiences on people who have tried out and they do ask you a series of questions on a form to begin with before you go into your first interview some of the questions are here are some they named off: 1. ARE YOU OR HAVE YOU EVER BEEN A MEMBER OF SAG/AFTRA? 2. NAME OF HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGES ATTENDED: (YEARS COMPLETED AND MAJORS): 3. WHERE DO YOU WORK? DESCRIBE YOUR JOB HISTORY: 5. HAVE YOU EVER BEEN ARRESTED OR HAD A DUI? IF YES, PLEASE EXPLAIN. 10. WHAT IS THE MOST UNUSUAL THING ABOUT YOU? i just want to know first of all what SAG/AFTRA is?! also they ask you if youve had a DUI which i have is that going to eliminate me from the competition? also another one i left out is about acting or performing outside of school.-i did a casting call for a reality tv show about a year ago so should i include that? one more thing they ask about your college and how much you have completed ive only done a semester in ahalf and it was broadcast journalism i had my own tv shows for the community and did a lot of interviews so i dont know if should inculde that with my education or just leave it as a semester and ahalf i dont want them to think im trying too hard i just need some opinions that would be reallly helpful!! im not for sure if these are the questions they still ask because this was from a guy that applied in 2005 but just to be on the safe side id like others opinions i also have no idea what to wear i dont want to dress up too much and i dont want to dress too down so any help would be great!!! i really would love to be on this show theres a lot of positive i could get out to the world about issues im involved in and have of my own so i think this would be a great opportunity THANK YOU!!!!

Answer:
SAG and AFTRA are entertainment unions. You would know if you were a member as you need to pay to become a member Don't lie about the DUI. It might not disqualify you but lying will as they will always run a full background check on any of the finalists. You have to be honest Going to another casting call does not count as acting or performing experience outside of school. Have you appeared in any community theatre productions? Did your TV show appear on a public access (not university) tv station? Have you sung at an open mic night? For education just say that you have a high school degree and one year of college At the end of the day the casting going to all come down to your personality. As you know from watching other seasons they need a real mix of races, social backgrounds, sexual orientation and personality types. So there will always be someone gay, always be a few members of ethnic minorities, always be someone who is super religious, always be the party girl and guy, always be an obnoxious one that everyone hates, always be a slutty one who tries to get it on with every guy in the house, always be one shy/naive person who doesn't know what hit them A girl I know was on Real World Los Angeles (yes Season 2, that's how old I am) and another friend was a finalist for Real World San Francisco (Season 3) but didn't make the final cut so their experiences will not help you as at that time you didn't have as many people auditioning. And you should really think before you do this -- how it will affect your life. My friend who was on Season 2 had a really hard time afterwards. She is the nicest, most mellow person in real life but they edited it in such a way that she looked like a drama queen and an obnoxious bi**h. She was an aspiring actress who went on thinking it would give her exposure and help her legitimate acting career. But nobody would take her seriously after the show. All she has done since the show are other reality shows and reunion shows but no actual acting jobs. So it all depends what you expect to get out of the experience
