Any good talent agencies in LA?

What are some legit talent agencies in LA to audition for, for up and coming talent?

    Unfortunately, "legit" is very relative. In theory, any SAG-franchised agency should be legitimate, but not only have there been SAG-franchised scammers, but since SAG's negotiations with agents broke down a few years ago, many legitimate agencies are not franchised. You would do best to got to the Back Stage site (backstage.com) and search their message board or even ask about specific agencies. You can also buy books that list the agencies and their specialties (even those books vary in quality, so be careful). This said, you don't just get to audition for any agency you choose. You have to try and get their attention (preferably by being recommended, but often by doing a mailing) and see if they invite you in. Which takes time in itself. In the UK we have The Actor's Yearbook, which gives the contact details of reputable agents. Maybe you have something similar in the USA? But before you make contact make sure that you have all the requirements, or you'll be wasting your time. You would need to have had a professional training at a good drama school and a lot of experience in stage plays, short films, and ideally more besides. Without a packed resume, agents just aren't interested.
