How can I get better at acting?

  • I'm a 14-year-old girl, I'm home schooled (no school plays/musicals or anything) I live in a small town without a theater or place for people to do anything with acting. What can I do by myself to get better?

    Home schooling puts you at a huge disadvantage, I'm afraid. Acting is all about interacting and reacting with others, and school is the best place to do that. Is there no way you could get into a school for the rest of your time in full-time education? What about a boarding school? Or going to stay with relatives who live in a bigger town? But unless you can get into a good acting class and get lots of real experience, you can't make any progress at all. Practising on your own can do more harm than good - you can easily teach yourself bad habits which can be hard, if not impossible, to undo. I wish you luck - you're in a difficult situation. xx

search online for youtube videos and get a mirror to practice. just because you're from a small town it does not mean you have to limit yourself. u can aslo act out a movie u like but also add a twist to it with your own personality. hope it helps. good luck
