Is proscout a scam? If it is how can I be a better actress?

If you audition and perform in many shows, you're likely to overcome your stag fright. Once you've been in a few shows (even if you're just chorus or ensemble) you'll usually stop getting nervous before auditions and such, but you'll still probably have the opening night pre-show jitters.

Proscout is a showcase - you pay to attend a showcase that will have actual agents attending. If you don't have a few years of training and acting experience you are not ready to go to any sort of showcase. Agents are not looking for beginners or wannabes. They are looking for people with 2-4 years experience acting at an amateur level (school plays, community theater, student films) and training from the best acting schools/coaches if your area. There will be 500-1000 attendees and the first thing the agents look at are resumes. Anyone who does not have a strong resume will probably not get any one on one meetings with agents. To get discovered at any sort of showcase you have to be confident you will be one of the most experienced people attending. You become comfortable on stage by performing over and over. Each time you get on stage it gets easier. If you do a school play, your first night is going to be hard but by the end of the week (or however long it runs) you'll be much more comfortable It's impossible to say how much acting classes are - they vary from school to school. Just google acting classes or acting schools + your town or nearest big city and call around to 3-4 schools to compare pricing. There is no reason to spend a lot on beginner classes as they teach pretty much the same thing whether you are paying $150 at your local community center, $500 at a theater company or $2000 at a top performing arts academy. But once you get to the intermediate/advanced level, then you pay for the best you can afford The reason people call showcases like Proscout a scam is because maybe 5% of attendees at ANY showcase will get an agent while 95% go home empty handed. That is not the fault of the showcase. It's because 95% of the attendees do not have the experience and training that an agency is looking for. But these inexperienced people believe they are "great" even if they have never starred in a school play, then start crying "scam" when they don't get discovered after spending the money. It's not a scam - if you have a strong resume you might get discovered. if you have no experience and only dream about being an actor but have not been doing anything about it but dreaming, then you won't get discovered
