Could someone please find me an awesome Monologue?

Can someone help me find a Monologue from a Play?

  • I need a 1:30 to 2:00 minute Monologue from a PUBLISHED modern play, so anything from the 1890's and above. The character in the monologue must be speaking to another character or talking to an audience, so they can't be on the phone, writing a letter or talking to themselves. It needs to be a male character, preferably between the age of 16 to 40 or so, basically not someone super young or old. Lastly something should happen to the character in the monologue (a change, an emotional upset, a discovery, etc etc.) In the end, I need to be able to buy the play in book form once I find a monologue. I have been looking for a while and found a Shakespeare one...except it was too old. A bunch of suggestions would be great so I can read through them and see if any fit me. Thank you so much!

Try to find Greg Coetzee's plays. Especially 'Breasts'. The whole play consists of male monologues. There is a play called 'body' it has some great monologues. So does Decadence by Steven Berkoff.
