How to find acting auditions at a community theatre?

• Hey, I am 20, female and am interested in getting more into acting. I am a theatre major and have also started taking beginner acting classes. So far I LOVE my major. Problem is I wanna start getting hands on experience so I can figure out 100% if acting is really for me and if I am talented enough to continue or have enough potential to succeed as an actor. I am more interested in doing theatre right now so I can build up more experience. How to find auditions at a community theatre? I live in NYC and am not sure how to start looking for if community theater's are having auditions for new actors/ plays.I mean I hope I'm not coming off as arrogant or anything cause I already know there is no formula to get acting roles. Is there a newspaper I should read? or website I should look into for theatre roles. I DON'T want to audition for an agent or anything the time for that has not come and I NEED WAY MORE experience before I can even do any of that stuff. So pretty much I am a beginner with no acting experience no training. Also are headshot mandatory for community theater auditions esp if I don't have experience? Those are expensive! I don't mind the resume, how do I obtain headshots?

  I would start by simply searching on the internet for community theaters in NYC. I know in my community, our theater has a website that posts when upcoming auditions are. If a phone number is listed and you can't find a website, try calling them and asking for more information. At my community theater, you don't need headshots. They actually take a picture of you at auditions. I hope this helps! Break a leg!
