Are there any open casting calls?

Open casting calls vs. cattle calls?

• so ive been networking through out LA and some of the responses i got for a non-union actress with no representation is to attend cattle calls and open casting calls as many times possible. so what exactly is the difference between cattle calls and open casting auditions? where would i even find that? if i did make it to one would i actually get to audition because when i sign in i would leave the agency rep part blank. help?

  their both calls that are open to the general public. you can look in some acting trade magazines in LA called VARIETY and HOLLYWOOD REPORTER. they have ads for open calls for community theater and student and ind. films. auditions for professional tv,movies and commercials aren't open calls. you need an agent to get you on them
