Unfortunately, it’s not at all easy to get an agent – they usually come looking for you. Many agents will not even allow you through the door unless you have done three years’ training at one of the major drama schools, and getting in to any of them is really hard – they get up to 4,000 auditionees applying for 24 places every year. You would also need to be able to show them a really impressive CV, packed with leading roles you've performed, on stage and also to camera. Most agents will at least want to see you acting in a public performance before they agree to represent you, so you need to be able to invite them to see you in a live performance close to where their offices are, which is normally London. Most auditions for film, TV and stage work are made known to agents, but not the general public, so you can't find out about them at all without an agent - it seems unfair, but that's the way it works. And you should never pay an agent – genuine ones take a percentage of whatever pay you get through jobs they find for you.

Cogito is misinformed. What you need to get an agent is a strong resume of plays you have done. Acting classes is not the road to success. Especially amateur ones. You need to be in school and community theatre (Theatre Club) plays and do some extra work on films to build a resume.

Point is...get use to everyone telling you how hard it is. I truly believe if you think it is then it will be. Once you start doing local theater and youth drama programs and networking you will find a local agent. However if you pursue long enough you will need to upgrade and or move to a hub to get the bigger jobs. Once you start booking the bigger jobs the best agents in world will find you. However unless your doing big things the agents will not travel to find you. You have to take your talents to them. Rinse and repeat. It's not impossible

You need to take more acting classes and get experience by being in local plays/indie films/student films, then you'll be able to get an agent.
