How to get a talent agent in Los Angeles?

How to get a talent agent?

  • M'kay....I'm 13 and my dream is to become an actress someday. Since it's summer I've been deciding that I WILL do it this summer...the only problem is I don't know anything about the whole media thing. (I have had some acting experience.) And about this whole resume thing?! It is really hard for me to understand...I really do need a talent agent. So what am I supposed to do? Do I have to audition? What about my resume? (I live in California...close to Los Angeles and San Diego) How much do I have to pay to get in? Is the audition hard? What do they ask you in your audition for the talent agentcy? Please help?

I'm 13 also and have been pursuing the whole TV, film, etc. thing for roughly 7 years now and I absolutely love it! Okay so if you're looking for an agent, there are some agent workshops out there that you can audition for, so I would check one of those out. Or if you really want an agent (I think you should try this) look into some acting classes in LA and you can ask your teacher what agency they recommend. (Btw a resume is a list of all the acting projects you have been involved in) But since you're just starting out, I would highly highly highly recommend that you "build your resume" (get jobs) first. How you can do this is by having your parent help you sign up for an online submission website, like Now Casting etc etc you can look it up (they do cost some money though). And if you sign up for a website like that, you can submit yourself to go on auditions that you want to go on (casting directors look at submissions and decide who they want for the auditions) and so that can hopefully lead to some little acting projects so you can get a feel for what it's like. And look into subscribing to BackStageWest (acting newspaper thing I get it) I have to tell you that I have been doing this for seven years straight and I haven't booked anything HUGE- yet. What I'm saying is that it can be a long and hard process so don't freak if it's taking a long time to book something and it's a big commitment. Good luck in your career :) if you have any questions about the acting thing ever, just email me and I'll be happy to give you advice!

I'm only two years older than you and have the same dream, but since im a guy, its a little different. One thing i have learned is that you DO NOT, go to an agency that asks for money before they have seen your talent. If they ask for 1000 dollars up front, do not do it. You want them to see what you can bring to the table before they make you pay anything because if you did the other way you could be paying thousands of dollars and not guaranteed anything. I don't have an agent, I look through internet sites and newspapers about any auditions i can do. Don't start off with an agent, look around for local plays and productions. My goal is to someday be on television or the silverscreen, but you dont have to start there. I am currently going to be in a independent film where i live, and i am ecstatic, it took a lot of patience to get where I am, but not even close to where i would love to be. When i was 13, ( i know it wasn't that long ago but it feels like ages) I was in over my head in trying to be famous, but my mom had me go to high school before she would look at talent agencies. So after this year (which will be my Sophomore year) if i don't get into a local theatre group, my mom is going to try to find me a talent agency. The biggest battle you have to deal with (besides the auditions) is patience. Persevere and keep looking and looking and try not to fall in to scams. But once you start getting noticed it can take you far. I'm hoping this film i will be in takes me to great lengths.

1 of all it will take you a long time cause you dont know nothing buy books or wesbites that talk about that to get an agent you need a long resume with lots of play YOU have been in then get headshots that cost 300-1000 depends how you want them and find an agent you could not get discovered also find them where you are go to college makes more sence

I'm brand new, just signed up a month ago, I'm 13, have no experience, and I've already been booked for 3 auditions for feature films for this weekend. Go here and do everything they say. it's life changing: Good luck, hon, hope I helped!
