What are some good serious plays where I could find a monologue?

I need to find a monologue?

  • I take an acting class and we were assigned monologues based on our acting style. Now our job is to find one completely opposite, and I was wondering where I could find a monologue book, like if they're at libraries or book stores etc. and if the monologues in monologue books are from actual plays. Thanks for the help in advance!

You can look monologues up online, they have ones from plays and just regular monologues. And in monologue books, a lot of times they're just made up monologues but also I guess they have ones from Plays... However go on google.com and type in "Acting monologues" and search through a little, I've found some before so you should see some. Also you can try to find a monologue in a book you like...sometimes they have interesting monologues in there.

There is always google and online monologues, but they are not usually very good. Most bookstores (like Barnes and Noble, or Borders) will have a section with some theatre books. This means everything from plays, to monologues, to skits, to "Acting For Dummies". I have bought a few monologue books and gotten into several shows with these.
