  • What are the best colleges for theatre and musical theatre? I have a decent resume. I have 4 years dance experience, reads sheet music, can sing harmonies, plays violin. I have been my school choir for 4 years and church for 1 year. I have been in 10 plays/musicals: 5 ensemble roles, 4 supporting roles, and 1 lead role. I am looking to pursue theatre as a career.

    It's all relative. In the US, the most well-known schools for theatre and musical theatre are The Juilliard School, New York University, and CAP 21, University of Cincinnati College Conservatory for musical theatre. In Britain, you have the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, The Oxford School of Drama, and LAMDA for musical theatre. Again, this is relative. And having a nice resume does NOT guarantee entrance to any of these. They are extremely competitive. But go for it! Good luck.

New York University, Julliard, New York Film Academy. Most all of the schools in New York City. The University of Michigan also has a good theatre program. They did 'A Very Potter Musical' there which was a big success and Darren Criss from Glee studied there. Good Luck!

Obviously NYU and Juilliard, but also Boston Conservatory, Emerson, and AMDA have great musical theatre programs.
